US Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun will visit Russia and Lithuania to discuss the situation in Belarus, Reuters reports August 21, citing sources.

The exact dates of Biegun’s visit are not specified, it is noted that first he will go to Moscow and then to Vilnius, where former presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya is currently.

August 9, protests and clashes with law enforcement agencies continue in Belarus. Those who disagree with the outcome of the presidential election went to rallies in many cities of the country. According to the CEC, the current head of the state Alexander Lukashenko won with 80.1% of the votes, while about 10% voted for Tikhanovskaya.
