U.S. diplomats will have to explain themselves to the Russian Foreign Ministry over the publication of “protest routes” in Russian cities by the American Embassy, said Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on January 23. On January 23rd this information was announced by the spokeswoman of Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

She said that on January 22nd the US Embassy in Moscow published “protest routes” and spread information about a “march on the Kremlin”.

“What was this: an installation or an instruction? Not even the organizers announced such plans. American colleagues will have to explain themselves in Smolensk Square,” Zakharova said at a briefing in Moscow.

Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the U.S. Embassy’s detailed reporting of unsanctioned protests in Russian cities would be seen in Moscow as an attempt to interfere in the country’s internal affairs.
