The former Speaker of the Sudan Parliament was detained by the police

Sudanese law enforcement officials reported the detention of the former Speaker of Parliament, Ibrahim Omar.

Policemen from the Robbery Recovery Unit detained Omar amid his participation in an Islamist movement protest Friday during which they were complaining about the latest legislative changes,” the Sudan Tribune newspaper reported.

In addition, he violated the law dissolving the National Congress Party. According to this document, he is forbidden to engage in political activities. The party’s leader was former Sudan President Omar al-Bashir.
