An unknown buyer purchased a Super Mario Bros. cartridge at the Heritage Auction in Dallas for the Nintendo Entertainment System retro console, HollywoodReporter reports.
This breaks the record for Super Mario Bros. last year when another unopened cartridge of the same game went off the hammer for $100,150.
Lot was part of a collection of video games of the 1980s and 1990s, which together generated more than $700,000 at auction. Also, for example, the 1987 Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out! game, inspired by the famous American boxer, was sold for $50,400.
