The U.S. Congressional Security Service warned lawmakers that supporters of Donald Trump are allegedly planning to storm the Capitol during the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, reports The Hill, citing a source.
According to the publication’s interlocutor, the senators were informed of threats of armed attacks on the Capitol, as well as on the White House and the Supreme Court building.
The Hill reminds that on Inauguration Day, at least 15,000 National Guardsmen will be involved in ensuring security in Washington.
A number of lawmakers urged residents to avoid traveling to Washington on Inauguration Day if possible because of the security threat posed by Trump supporters.
