Russian Major General died in a convoy explosion in Syria

An improvised explosive device detonated in Syria on the way of a Russian convoy, the military adviser was killed, reported the Defense Ministry.

The military department specified that three Russian soldiers were injured in the explosion. Russian senior military advisor with the rank of major-general was killed during the evacuation and provision of medical care from the received serious wounds.

The incident took place when the Russian convoy returned after a humanitarian action was carried out 15 km away from the town of Deir ez-Zor and an improvised explosive device was detonated on the side of the road as the vehicles were moving.

The agency said that the leadership of the Russian Defense Ministry would provide the family of the deceased serviceman with all necessary help and support.

The dead officer was presented for the state award posthumously.
