Although the White House had previously made statements about the readiness of the US army to leave the territory of Syria, now the new US administration is taking opposite decisions. According to sources, about 500 members of the U.S. Armed Forces have been transferred to the republic from Iran. In addition, this figure may not be final, and in the future the presence of Washington in the Syrian Arab Republic will be strengthened with another 2,000 members of the personnel.
The official reasons for these measures are not announced. There is a version that the U.S. wants to regain control of the northern part of the country after failed attempts to do so in 2020. Several American military bases are being set up in the northeastern part of Syria, and observation posts are being opened. The key goal is to prevent Russian and ATS army personnel from penetrating into the area. Experts believe that such actions by Washington risk an escalation of the situation in the state.
