The Chinese city of Jiangxing in the eastern province of Zhejiang has announced emergency coronavirus vaccination with Sinovac, which is now in its third phase of clinical trials, reports the Chinese newspaper Paper citing a representative of the local center for disease control and prevention.
City authorities have centrally ordered the vaccine from Sinovac and are now gradually delivering it to the established vaccination points.
“If it weren’t for the pandemic and the approaching winter-spring period, I think we would have announced this vaccination only after the vaccine appeared on the market,” the newspaper quotes the employee as saying.
According to the newspaper’s interlocutor, the top priority recipients of the emergency vaccine are physicians and border control officers. It is highly recommended that people working in public places or visiting countries where coronavirus can be infected with high or medium risk.
Vaccination is on a voluntary basis only. It is only possible for people aged 18 to 59 years.
