An armed man dressed in traditional Afghan clothing was detained in French Lyon, local media reported.
“He had a 30-centimeter knife and seemed ready for action,” media quote Pierre Olivier, mayor of Lyon’s second district.
It is noted that the suspect is currently being interrogated, after which he will be sent for psychiatric evaluation.
Earlier Thursday, a man armed with a knife entered the Church of Notre Dame in Nice and killed the watchman and two women. All were wounded in the neck area. Police quickly arrived at the scene and opened fire on the terrorist.
The attacker was now in one of the city hospitals. According to media reports, the attacker was a 21-year-old Tunisian citizen.
French President Emmanuelle Macron called the incident an act of Islamist terrorism.
