A Russian fighter intercepted an American aircraft over the Barents Sea

Russian MiG-31 fighter was raised to intercept an American plane over the Barents Sea, the Russian National Defense Control Center said.

“On August 13, Russian air control over neutral waters of the Barents Sea found an air target approaching the state border of Russia. To identify and identify the target in the air, the MiG-31 fighter was raised from the air defense duty of the Northern Fleet,” reports Russian news agency TASS.

The object was identified as a Poseidon R-8A base patrol aircraft of the U.S. Navy.

“After the U.S. aircraft turned from the Russian state border, the Russian fighter returned safely to the base airfield. The entire flight of the Russian MiG-31 fighter was conducted strictly in accordance with international rules of airspace usage. Violation of the state border of the Russian Federation by the U.S. military aircraft is not allowed”, – said in the report.

The day before, the Russian Su-27 went into the air to intercept two American warplanes over the Black Sea, approaching the Russian border.

On Monday, Russian Su-27 fighter aircraft also intercepted two American reconnaissance aircraft over the Black Sea.

Earlier, Russian Su-27 fighter aircraft intercepted American planes over the Black Sea on August 7. Previously, the interception over the Black Sea took place on 5 August. Previous intercepts took place on 23, 24, 27, 30 and 31 July.
